This Privacy Policy explains how RPHC LLC ("we", "us", or "our"), which operates RPH Chat, collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website at https://www.rphchat.com and our Android/iOS app (together, the "Service").

The mobile app displays the same service as our website inside a native wrapper; this policy applies to both.

If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the Service.

1. Who we are

RPH Chat is operated by RPHC LLC. The only way to contact us about privacy is by email at admin@rphchat.com.

2. Information we collect

Information you provide

• Account information: username, email address, and a password (stored only as a salted, one-way hash, never as plain text).
• Sign-in via third parties (optional): if you choose to sign in through a third-party provider, we receive an account identifier and basic profile information from that provider. We do not receive your third-party password.
• Profile & character content: display names, avatars, banners, and any custom text, HTML, or CSS you add to your characters.
• Messages and posts: public room messages, private direct messages, "looking for RP" (LFRP) posts, and similar content you send through the Service.
• Social data: your friends list, blocked users, and favorite rooms.
• Uploaded media: images you upload (such as avatars and banners), which are stored on our cloud storage.

Information collected automatically

• Technical/connection data: your IP address, which we use for security, rate limiting, abuse prevention (including IP banning), and server logs.
• Session cookies: we use a secure authentication cookie to keep you signed in. This is required for the Service to function.
• Device/push identifiers: if you enable notifications, we store a push notification token and the platform (web, Android, or iOS), and a timestamp of your most recent mobile-app activity.

Payment information

If you purchase a subscription or one-time upgrade, payments are processed by Stripe. We store only Stripe identifiers and your subscription status (e.g. customer ID, subscription ID, plan, renewal date). We do not receive or store your full card number. Stripe handles all card data directly.

What we don't do

• Use third-party advertising or analytics/tracking SDKs.
• Sell your personal information.

3. How we use your information

We use the information above to:

• Create and manage your account and characters.
• Deliver real-time chat, direct messages, and notifications.
• Process subscriptions and purchases (via Stripe).
• Keep the Service secure by preventing abuse, spam, and unauthorized access (rate limiting, IP banning, moderation).
• Maintain and troubleshoot the Service (server logs).
• Communicate with you about your account or important changes.

4. How we share your information

We share information only as needed to run the Service:

We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the Service.

Other users can see content you choose to make visible, such as your character profiles, public room messages, and LFRP posts. Direct messages are visible only to the participants of that conversation.

5. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your personal information — your login and account details, profile, characters, and uploaded images — and cancel any subscription. Content you posted in shared spaces (room messages, direct messages, and rooms you created) is retained but anonymized: it no longer identifies you and appears as "[Deleted]", so other users' roleplay history stays intact. We may also retain the minimum data required by law or to prevent fraud and abuse. Server logs and backups are retained for a limited time on a rolling basis.

6. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live (e.g. under GDPR or CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing.

• Access / update: edit your profile and account in the app settings.
• Delete: you can permanently delete your account and all associated data anytime from Account settings → Danger Zone. See https://www.rphchat.com/delete-account for details, or email admin@rphchat.com if you can't access your account.
• Notifications: you can turn off push notifications in your device settings.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. To make a request, email admin@rphchat.com. We may need to verify your identity first.

7. Security

We protect your information using industry-standard measures, including salted, one-way password hashing, HTTPS/TLS encryption in transit, secure authentication cookies, and access controls. No online service can guarantee perfect security, but we take the protection of your data seriously and work continually to keep it safe.

8. Age requirement

The Service is intended only for users 18 years of age or older. It is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. International data transfers

Our data is stored and processed in the United States. If you access the Service from another country, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data-protection laws. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

10. Push notifications

If you enable notifications, we use a third-party push notification service to deliver them and store a push token tied to your account. You can disable notifications at any time in your device or browser settings.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be communicated through the Service where appropriate.
